Fried Beef Liver with Onion


  1. Rinse liver with cold water. Slice the liver.
  2. Place sliced liver in a dip bowl and completely cover with milk for 30 – 45 minutes. It will help remove the bitter flavor from the liver, softens flavor and tenderizes the liver.
  3. Dice onion.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium-heat until hot. Add lard and diced onion. Fry until onion is golden brown. Remove caramelized onion from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Remove sliced liver from from milk and discard liquid.
  6. In a bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, salt and black pepper.
  7. Evenly dust each piece of sliced liver with seasoned flour mixture.
  8. Place dusted sliced liver on preheated skillet with lard.
  9. Fry 3 to 4 minutes on each side until evenly browned.
  10. Serve liver with onion.
